Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical and strategic weight of alliances in a dharma-conflict: when a ruler “takes refuge” with a side, it signals a moral-political commitment that reshapes responsibility, strength, and the likelihood of war.

Sañjaya informs the Kuru court that the Pāṇḍavas are readying an advance, strengthened by the Cedi king who has joined them with an entire akṣauhiṇī, indicating a major consolidation of forces against Duryodhana’s party.
