उद्योगपर्व (अध्याय १२९) — केशवस्य वैभवप्रदर्शनम् / Krishna’s Theophanic Display in the Kuru Assembly
अथ दुर्योधन राजा धृतराष्ट्रो5भ्यभाषत । कर्णदु:शासनाभ्यां च राजभिश्चापि संवृतम्,उस समय कर्ण, दुःशासन तथा अन्य राजाओंसे भी घिरे हुए दुर्योधनसे राजा धृतराष्ट्रने कहा--
atha duryodhano rājā dhṛtarāṣṭro 'bhyabhāṣata | karṇa-duḥśāsanābhyāṃ ca rājabhiś cāpi saṃvṛtam ||
Pada saat itu Raja Dhṛtarāṣṭra menegur Raja Duryodhana, yang dikelilingi oleh Karṇa, Duḥśāsana, dan raja-raja lain.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical tension of counsel and responsibility: a ruler’s decisions are shaped not only by personal intent but also by the surrounding circle of allies and supporters, which can harden resolve and obstruct impartial dharmic guidance.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Dhṛtarāṣṭra begins to address Duryodhana, who is at that moment encircled by Karṇa, Duḥśāsana, and other kings—setting the stage for a consequential exchange in the pre-war deliberations of the Udyoga Parva.
