वितुद्यमानं विहगैरविराटमसितेक्षणा: । न शवनुवन्ति विहगान्‌ निवारयितुमातुरा:

Transliteration

vitudyamānaṃ vihagair avirāṭam asitekṣaṇāḥ | na śaknuvanti vihagān nivārayitum āturāḥ ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana berkata: Para wanita bermata gelap, dilanda dukacita dan kegelisahan, tidak mampu menghalau burung-burung yang terus mematuk tubuh itu—yang terdedah, tanpa perlindungan mahupun seri kebesaran raja. Pemandangan ini menonjolkan ketidakberdayaan para peratap serta kehinaan yang boleh dibawa perang bahkan setelah nyawa telah pergi.
