Meritorious action (sukṛta/puṇya) is believed to bear fruit beyond death, and remembrance of another’s good deeds is presented as a moral act that honors virtue and sustains ethical memory even amid the devastation of war.
In the aftermath of the Kurukṣetra war, the discourse recalls Abhimanyu (Saubhadra) and his posthumous destiny: he is envisioned as reaching the meritorious realms and enjoying celestial company; the speaker asks that, in that state, Abhimanyu remember the speaker’s own good deeds.
