Atithi’s Direction to the Nāga-sage Padma at Naimiṣa (अतिथ्युपदेशः—नैमिषे पद्मनागोपाख्यानप्रस्तावः)

अथ विश्वरूपं नन्दनवनमुपगतं मातोवाच पुत्र कि परपक्षवर्धनस्त्वं मातुलपक्षं नाशयसि नार्हस्येवं कर्तुमिति स विश्वरूपो मातुर्वाक्यमनतिक्रमणीयमिति मत्वा सम्पूज्य हिरण्यकशिपुमगात्‌

atha viśvarūpaṃ nandanavanam upagataṃ mātovāca—putra kiṃ parapakṣa-vardhanas tvaṃ mātula-pakṣaṃ nāśayasi? nārhasi evaṃ kartum iti. sa viśvarūpo mātur vākyaṃ anatikramaṇīyam iti matvā sampūjya hiraṇyakaśipum agāt.

Kemudian, ketika Viśvarūpa telah pergi ke rimba Nandana, ibunya berkata kepadanya: “Wahai anakku, mengapa engkau menguatkan pihak lawan dan memusnahkan pihak bapa saudara sebelah ibumu? Engkau tidak patut berbuat demikian.” Menganggap kata-kata ibunya sebagai perintah yang tidak boleh dilanggar, Viśvarūpa menghormatinya dengan takzim, memohon diri, lalu pergi menemui Hiraṇyakaśipu.
