अव्यक्त-मानस-सृष्टिवादः

Doctrine of Creation from the Unmanifest ‘Mānasa’

इस समय तुम सुखसे दुःखमें आ पड़े हो। अब फिर तुम्हें सुखकी प्राप्ति होगी। यहाँ किसी भी प्राणीको न तो सदा सुख ही प्राप्त होता है और न सदा दुःख ही ।। शरीरमेवायतनं सुखस्य दुःखस्य चाप्यायतनं शरीरम्‌ | यद्यच्छरीरेण करोति कर्म तेनैव देही समुपाश्षुते तत्‌,यह शरीर ही सुखका आधार है और यही दुःखका भी आधार है। देहाभिमानी पुरुष शरीरसे जो-जो कर्म करता है, उसीके अनुसार वह सुख एवं दुःखरूप फल भोगता है

idānīṁ tvaṁ sukhād duḥkham āpannaḥ | punaś ca te sukha-prāptir bhaviṣyati | iha hi kasyacid api prāṇinaḥ na sadā sukham eva prāpyate na ca sadā duḥkham eva || śarīram evāyatanaṁ sukhasya duḥkhasya cāpy āyatanaṁ śarīram | yad yac charīreṇa karoti karma tenaiva dehī samupāśnute tat ||

Pada saat ini engkau telah jatuh daripada kesenangan kepada penderitaan; namun kebahagiaan akan datang kepadamu sekali lagi. Di dunia ini tiada satu makhluk pun memperoleh kebahagiaan semata-mata untuk selama-lamanya, dan tiada pula penderitaan semata-mata untuk selama-lamanya. Tubuh inilah tempat bersemayamnya nikmat, dan tubuh inilah juga tempat bersemayamnya sakit. Apa jua perbuatan yang dilakukan seseorang—yang menganggap tubuh sebagai dirinya—melalui tubuh ini, maka akibat itulah yang kelak dialami oleh diri yang berjasad sebagai nikmat atau derita.

Happiness and suffering are not permanent; both arise in embodied life. The body is the locus where pleasure and pain are felt, and one experiences results in accordance with actions performed through the body—so one should remain steady, act responsibly, and not be overwhelmed by changing fortunes.

A Brahmin speaker consoles and instructs the listener who has recently fallen into distress. He frames the situation within a moral-psychological teaching: worldly conditions alternate, and the embodied person undergoes pleasure and pain as consequences of bodily actions (karma).
