Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
त्वां चैव नरशार्दूल गान्धारीं च यशस्विनीम्
tvāṃ caiva naraśārdūla gāndhārīṃ ca yaśasvinīm
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Engkau juga, wahai harimau di antara manusia, dan juga Gāndhārī yang termasyhur.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The line models respectful address even amid the devastation of war: the narrator’s diction preserves dignity (naraśārdūla, yaśasvinī) while naming those drawn into the moral and emotional consequences of the conflict.
Vaiśampāyana continues the narration by directly referring to a principal male figure (addressed as ‘tiger among men’) and to Gāndhārī, indicating that both are being included in the next action, instruction, or encounter described in the surrounding verses.
