Duryodhana’s Post-Duel Lament and Instructions (भग्नसक्थस्य विलापः)
भीष्मेण सोमदत्तेन बाह्लीकेन कृपेण च | द्रोणेन च सपुत्रेण विदुरेण च धीमता
bhīṣmeṇa somadattena bāhlīkena kṛpeṇa ca | droṇena ca saputreṇa vidureṇa ca dhīmatā ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Bersama Bhīṣma, Somadatta, Bāhlīka, Kṛpa, Droṇa beserta puteranya, dan Vidura yang bijaksana—para tua yang mulia ini disebut sebagai warisan ingatan tentang nasihat dan kepemimpinan.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse foregrounds the moral weight of senior figures—teachers, elders, and counselors—implying that righteous governance and warfare depend on wisdom and dharma-informed counsel, not merely martial power.
Vaiśampāyana lists prominent elders and leaders—Bhīṣma, Somadatta, Bāhlīka, Kṛpa, Droṇa with his son, and wise Vidura—situating the account within the remembered circle of Kuru authority and guidance as the war narrative proceeds.
