The Fall of Duryodhana and the Contest of Restraint
तदेवं विजय: प्राप्त: पुन: संशयित: कृत: । महान् प्रयास करके भीष्म आदि कौरवोंको मारकर विजय एवं श्रेष्ठ यशकी प्राप्ति की गयी और वैरका पूरा-पूरा बदला चुकाया गया था। इस प्रकार जो विजय प्राप्त हुई थी, उसे उन्होंने फिर संशयमें डाल दिया है
tadevaṁ vijayaḥ prāptaḥ punaḥ saṁśayitaḥ kṛtaḥ |
Vāyu berkata: “Demikianlah, kemenangan itu sungguh telah diraih; namun kini ia dilemparkan kembali ke dalam keraguan. Walau dengan usaha yang amat besar—setelah menewaskan Bhīṣma dan para jawara Kaurava yang lain—kemenangan dan kemasyhuran tertinggi telah diperoleh, dan dendam pun telah terbalas sepenuhnya. Tetapi kejayaan yang susah payah itu sekarang dibuat tidak pasti lagi.”
