Educational Q&A

The verse models disciplined inquiry into sacred tradition: understanding a divine event requires attention to place, time, agents, and proper ritual procedure (vidhi), emphasizing that religious acts gain meaning through context and prescribed order.

King Janamejaya asks the narrator (addressed as ‘best of speakers’) to explain the circumstances of Lord Skanda’s consecration—where and when it occurred, who performed it, and what ritual method was used—prompting a detailed account in the subsequent narration.
