गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel
अप्रियाणां च वचनैद्रौपद्या: कर्षणेन च । एतस्मात् कारणात् पाप जीवितं ते न विद्यते
apriyāṇāṃ ca vacanair draupadyāḥ karṣaṇena ca | etasmāt kāraṇāt pāpa jīvitaṃ te na vidyate ||
Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Kerana kata-katamu yang kasar dan menghina, dan kerana engkau menyeret Draupadī dengan paksa, wahai pendosa—atas sebab-sebab inilah, nyawamu tidak akan kekal.”
युधिछिर उवाच
Abusive speech and the humiliation of a virtuous person—especially the violent dishonoring of a woman—are grave adharma. Such acts invite inevitable retribution; moral order (dharma) demands accountability.
Yudhiṣṭhira recalls the outrage done to Draupadī—both the cruel words spoken to her and her being dragged—and declares that these crimes ensure the offender’s destruction, framing the coming punishment as a consequence of adharma.
