गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel

तथा पौलस्त्यतनयो रावणो नाम राक्षस: । रामेण निहतो राजन्‌ सानुबन्ध: सहानुग:

tathā paulastyatanayo rāvaṇo nāma rākṣasaḥ | rāmeṇa nihato rājan sānubandhaḥ sahānugaḥ ||

Demikian juga, wahai Raja, rākṣasa bernama Rāvaṇa, daripada keturunan Pulastya, telah dibunuh oleh Rāma—bersama sekutu-sekutunya, para pengikutnya, dan seluruh rangkaian mereka yang terikat pada perjuangannya. Pernyataan ini menegaskan pola moral: apabila adharma dikejar dengan kesombongan dan keganasan, akibatnya melampaui diri pelaku hingga menimpa seluruh jaringan penyokong; dan kekuatan dharma akhirnya menuntut pertanggungjawaban yang menyeluruh.
