गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel
हिरण्यकशिपुश्चैव क्रिययैव निषूदितौ । वृत्रश्न निहतो राजन् क्रिययैव न संशय:
hiraṇyakaśipuś caiva kriyayaiva niṣūditau | vṛtraś ca nihato rājan kriyayaiva na saṁśayaḥ ||
Hiraṇyakaśipu juga ditumpaskan hanya melalui tindakan yang tegas. Dan Vṛtra pun, wahai Raja, dibunuh semata-mata oleh tindakan—tiada keraguan tentang hal itu. Ajarannya ialah: sekalipun kehendak ilahi turut berperanan, hasil di dunia tercapai melalui usaha yang nyata, terarah, dan bersungguh-sungguh, bukan sekadar niat atau kata-kata.
वायुदेव उवाच
That results—whether in righteous governance or in confronting great threats—are achieved through concrete, purposeful action (kriyā). Even extraordinary victories attributed to divine power are realized through effective means and decisive effort, not through mere wish or speech.
Vāyudeva addresses a king and cites well-known mythic examples—Hiraṇyakaśipu and Vṛtra—to argue that decisive action and practical measures are what bring about the defeat of formidable adversaries, reinforcing a counsel toward active, effective conduct.
