द्रोणपर्व — अध्याय १६२: प्रातःसंध्यायां युद्धप्रवृत्तिः तथा रजोमेघे संमूढता

मानी द्रौणिरसम्भ्रानन्‍्तो बाणपाणिरभाषत । उन बाणोंसे अत्यन्त घायल होकर मानी द्रोणकुमार पैरोंसे कुचले गये सर्पके समान अत्यन्त कुपित हो उठा और हाथमें बाण लेकर संभ्रमरहित हो इस प्रकार बोला-- ।। धृष्टय्युम्न स्थिरो भूत्वा मुहूर्त प्रतिपालय

mānī drauṇir asambhrānto bāṇapāṇir abhāṣata | dhṛṣṭadyumna sthiro bhūtvā muhūrtaṃ pratipālaya ||

Sañjaya berkata: Putera Droṇa yang angkuh itu, tidak gentar, dengan anak panah di tangan, berkata: “Wahai Dhṛṣṭadyumna, berdirilah teguh dan pertahankan tempatmu seketika.” Adegan ini menampakkan bagaimana maruah yang terluka dan amarah dapat mengeras menjadi tekad di medan perang; dan seruan “berdiri teguh” mengingatkan etika kesatria—ketenangan di tengah huru-hara.
