Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 155 — Ghaṭotkaca-nidhana-śoka and Karṇa-śakti-vyaya
Kṛṣṇa’s strategic reassurance
The verse highlights how a ruler’s martial presence can shape the moral and psychological landscape of war: brilliance and power inspire allies and intimidate foes, yet such radiance also signals the consuming, scorching nature of battle and the heavy responsibility borne by a king in a dharmic crisis.
Sanjaya describes the Kuru king on the battlefield, comparing him to the blazing sun. The simile conveys the king’s overwhelming splendor and formidable energy amid the intense fighting of the Drona Parva.
