Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode (द्रोणस्य भीषणव्यचरितम् / सौभद्र-जयद्रथ-संनिपातः)
यत्नमाना: प्रयत्नेन द्रोणानीकविशातने । न शेकुः सृञ्जया युद्धे तद्धि द्रोणेन पालितम्
yatnamānāḥ prayatnena droṇānīka-viśātane | na śekuḥ sṛñjayā yuddhe taddhi droṇena pālitam | āptair āśu parijñātaṃ bhāradvāja-cikīrṣitam |
Sañjaya berkata: Kaum Sṛñjaya, dengan usaha yang bersungguh-sungguh, cuba memecahkan susunan tempur Droṇa, namun mereka tidak mampu berjaya dalam pertempuran itu, kerana bala tentera tersebut dipertahankan rapi oleh Droṇa. Dan melalui orang-orang kepercayaan, niat putera Bharadvāja (Droṇa) segera diketahui.
