Śrāddha-Kalpa: Pitṛ-Pūjā and Tithi-Phala (श्राद्धकल्पः पितृपूजा च तिथिफलम्)

शास्त्रप्रामाण्यसूक्ष्मं तु विधिं पिण्डस्य संस्मरन्‌ | ततो दर्भेषु तत्‌ सर्वमदर्द भरतर्षभ,भरतश्रेष्ठ) यह सोचकर मैंने पिताके प्रत्यक्ष दिखायी देनेवाले हाथका आदर नहीं किया। शास्त्रको ही प्रमाण मानकर उसकी पिण्डदानसम्बन्धी सूक्ष्म विधिका ध्यान रखते हुए कुशोंपर ही सब पिण्डोंका दान किया

śāstraprāmāṇyasūkṣmaṃ tu vidhiṃ piṇḍasya saṃsmaran | tato darbheṣu tat sarvam adarda bharatarṣabha ||

Bhīṣma berkata: “Dengan mengingati tatacara halus yang disahkan oleh śāstra bagi persembahan piṇḍa, aku tidak tunduk kepada apa yang tampak di hadapanku. Dengan menjadikan śāstra sahaja sebagai autoriti pemutus, wahai banteng keturunan Bharata, aku mempersembahkan semua piṇḍa di atas rumput darbha menurut upacara yang ditetapkan.”
