Cyavana’s Yogic Display and Kuśika’s Recognition of Tapas (च्यवन-योगप्रभावः कुशिकस्य तपःप्रशंसा च)
समाप्तदीक्षश्ष्यवनस्ततोडगच्छत् स्वमाश्रमम् | गविजश्न महातेजा: स्वमाश्रमपर्द ययौ
samāptadīkṣaś cyavanas tato ’gacchat svam āśramam | gaviṣṭho mahātejāḥ svam āśramapadaṁ yayau ||
Bhīṣma berkata: “Apabila laku pentahbisan (dīkṣā) resi Cyavana selesai, beliau pun berangkat ke pertapaannya sendiri. Sesudah itu, resi yang bercahaya besar, Gaviṣṭha (Gojāta), juga kembali ke pertapaannya.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores the dharmic ideal of disciplined observance: once a vowed rite (dīkṣā) is properly completed, the ascetic returns to his rightful station (āśrama), emphasizing order, restraint, and fidelity to prescribed duties.
Bhīṣma narrates a transition: Cyavana finishes his consecrated observance and goes back to his hermitage; afterward another illustrious sage, Gaviṣṭha (also referred to as Gojāta), likewise departs for his own hermitage.
