Cyavana’s Yogic Display and Kuśika’s Recognition of Tapas (च्यवन-योगप्रभावः कुशिकस्य तपःप्रशंसा च)
भरतभूषण! तब वे महापराक्रमी भूपाल राजा नहुष प्रसन्न होकर बोले--“बस, आपलोगोंकी कृपा ही बहुत है' ।।
tato jagrāha dharme sa sthitim indranibho nṛpaḥ | tatheti coditaḥ prītastāvṛṣī pratyapūjayat ||
Kemudian raja itu, bersinar laksana Indra, memilih sebagai anugerahnya: keteguhan untuk tetap tegak dalam dharma. Apabila kedua-dua resi itu, dengan hati gembira, mengiyakan dengan kata “Demikianlah,” sang raja pun bersukacita lalu menghormati dan memuja mereka berdua menurut tata upacara yang wajar.
भीष्म उवाच
The highest boon for a ruler is not power or pleasure but unwavering stability in dharma; ethical steadfastness is portrayed as the foundation of legitimate kingship, and gratitude toward spiritual mentors is part of that dharma.
King Nahuṣa, urged by two sages to ask a boon, chooses ‘steadfastness in dharma.’ The sages grant it with ‘tathāstu/ tatheti,’ and the king, pleased, performs proper worship and honours them.
