Adhyāya 123 — Droṇa’s Pedagogy: Arjuna’s Preeminence, Ekalavya’s Self-Training, and the Bhāsa-Lakṣya Trial
ं 24443 पंप कुन्ती शुश्राव सूतके । च्चारितामुच्चैस्तां निशम्य तपस्विनाम्
Kuntī śuśrāva sūtake | uccāritām uccais tāṃ niśamya tapasvinām | Kuntīne saurīṃ meṃse hī yaḥ atyanta adbhuta bāta sunī | uccasvarameṃ uccārita vaha ākāśavāṇī sunakara śataśṛṅganivāsī tapasvī muniyoṃ tathā vimānoṃ para sthita indra-ādi devasamuha ko baṛā harṣa huā |
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Ketika Kuntī masih dalam tempoh ketidaksucian ritual selepas bersalin, dia mendengar suatu pengisytiharan yang amat menakjubkan. Mendengar suara langit itu, dilafazkan lantang dengan nada tinggi, para pertapa yang tinggal di Śataśṛṅga serta rombongan para dewa—Indra dan yang lain—yang berada di kereta udara mereka dipenuhi kegembiraan besar.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even amid human social-ritual conditions like sūtaka, events tied to dharma and destiny can carry cosmic significance; the joy of sages and gods signals that righteous outcomes and divinely sanctioned births are celebrated as part of maintaining order (ṛta/dharma).
Kuntī hears a loud celestial proclamation (ākāśavāṇī). On hearing it, the ascetics living at Śataśṛṅga and the gods led by Indra, seated in their vimānas, rejoice greatly—indicating that the announcement concerns an extraordinary, auspicious development.
