अध्याय ९६: शरभ-प्रादुर्भावः, नृसिंह-दर्पशमनम्, विष्णोः शिवस्तुतिः, फलश्रुति
रुद्रसाधारणं चैव चिह्नितं विकृताकृति ततः संहाररूपेण सुव्यक्तः परमेश्वरः
rudrasādhāraṇaṃ caiva cihnitaṃ vikṛtākṛti tataḥ saṃhārarūpeṇa suvyaktaḥ parameśvaraḥ
Tanda yang berbekas itu—yang menjadi lambang bersama Rudra—muncul dengan rupa yang luar biasa dan menggetarkan. Sesudah itu Parameśvara terserlah dengan nyata sebagai perwujudan pembubaran (saṃhāra).

It frames the Linga/cihna as Rudra’s distinctive sign through which Parameśvara becomes directly apprehensible; worship of the sign leads the devotee from visible symbol to the Lord who governs saṃhāra and grants release.
Shiva is presented as Parameśvara (Pati) who manifests as the power of dissolution—reabsorbing the cosmos and, at the inner level, dissolving impurities and bonds (pāśa) that confine the soul (paśu).
The verse points to contemplative Linga-upāsanā: meditating on the marked sign as Rudra’s presence and internalizing saṃhāra as yogic dissolution of limiting identifications—aligned with Pāśupata-oriented renunciation and purification.
