Adhyaya 89: शौचाचारलक्षणम् — सदाचार, भैक्ष्यचर्या, प्रायश्चित्त, द्रव्यशुद्धि, आशौच-निर्णय

चरेद्यदि भवेन्नारी पुमांसं दक्षिणे लभेत् स्त्रीणां मैथुनकाले तु पापग्रहविवर्जिते

caredyadi bhavennārī pumāṃsaṃ dakṣiṇe labhet strīṇāṃ maithunakāle tu pāpagrahavivarjite

Jika pada saat gerak subur wanita, benih lelaki ditempatkan di bahagian kanan, maka diperoleh seorang anak lelaki—terutama apabila persetubuhan berlaku pada waktu yang bebas daripada pengaruh planet yang tidak mujur. Dalam pembuahan yang teratur ini, paśu (jiwa berjasad) memasuki tubuh di bawah pāśa (ikatan) yang lebih bersih, menjadikannya lebih layak untuk Shiva-sādhana yang tertuju kepada Pati, Tuhan Mahādeva.
