Adhyaya 84: शिवव्रतकथनम्
Uma–Maheshvara Vrata, Shula-dana, and Month-wise Ekabhakta Vrata
सा च सूर्यांशुसंकाशा भवान्या सह मोदते कृत्वा चाश्वयुजे मासि विपुलं धान्यपर्वतम्
sā ca sūryāṃśusaṃkāśā bhavānyā saha modate kṛtvā cāśvayuje māsi vipulaṃ dhānyaparvatam
Dia—bersinar laksana sinar matahari—bersukacita bersama Bhavānī, setelah pada bulan Āśvayuja membuat sebuah “gunung bijirin” yang besar sebagai persembahan sedekah.
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It links Shaiva devotion to dharma through annadāna: creating a great heap of grain as an offering/charity becomes a Shaiva act that pleases the Divine Feminine (Bhavānī) and supports purity conducive to Linga-pūjā.
By emphasizing rejoicing “with Bhavānī,” it reflects Shiva-tattva as inseparable from Shakti—Pati (the Lord) is approached through Shakti’s grace, and dharmic action like dāna helps the paśu (soul) loosen pāśa (bondage).
A dāna-vidhi centered on annadāna in Āśvayuja—symbolized by forming a ‘mountain of grain’—a meritorious practice that supports inner purification aligned with Pāśupata-oriented Shaiva discipline.
