Adhyaya 45: Rudra as Sarvatma—Seven Lokas, Seven Talas, and the Cosmic Body of Shiva

लक्षं सप्तसहस्रं हि तलानां सघनस्य तु व्योम्नः प्रमाणं मूलं तु त्रिंशत्साहस्रकेण तु

lakṣaṃ saptasahasraṃ hi talānāṃ saghanasya tu vyomnaḥ pramāṇaṃ mūlaṃ tu triṃśatsāhasrakeṇa tu

Sesungguhnya ukuran wilayah alam bawah yang padat (tala) ialah seratus tujuh ribu; dan ukuran asas bagi ruang langit perantara (vyoman) ditetapkan tiga puluh ribu.

By giving precise cosmic measures, the verse frames the universe as an ordered manifestation upheld by Pati (Shiva); Linga worship aligns the devotee’s inner pramāṇa (spiritual orientation) with that cosmic order.

Shiva-tattva is implied as the stable ground of measure (mūla-pramāṇa): even space and the lower worlds are quantifiable only because the Supreme Pati sustains their order and limits.

A contemplative (dhyāna) use of cosmology: in Pāśupata-oriented practice, reflecting on tala and vyoma as forms of Pāśa (worldly structure) supports vairāgya and turns the pashu (soul) toward Pati (Shiva) through Linga-upāsanā.
