There is no need to conduct research into the significance of the chanting of the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. The history of Ajāmila is sufficient proof of the power of the Lord’s holy name and the exalted position of a person who chants the holy name incessantly. Therefore Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu advised:

H
Hari
A
Ajāmila
Y
Yamadūtas

FAQs

This verse states that the mere utterance of Hari’s name has such greatness that it freed even Ajāmila from the noose of death.

Yamarāja was correcting his messengers after they were stopped from taking Ajāmila, explaining that devotion—especially the holy name of Hari—overrules their jurisdiction.

Make sincere remembrance and chanting of the Lord’s names a daily practice, trusting in its purifying power and turning your mind toward devotion rather than fear and guilt.
