Arjuna’s Lament, the End of the Yadus, and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure
सूत उवाच एवं कृष्णसख: कृष्णो भ्रात्रा राज्ञा विकल्पित: । नानाशङ्कास्पदं रूपं कृष्णविश्लेषकर्शित: ॥ १ ॥
sūta uvāca evaṁ kṛṣṇa-sakhaḥ kṛṣṇo bhrātrā rājñā vikalpitaḥ nānā-śaṅkāspadaṁ rūpaṁ kṛṣṇa-viśleṣa-karśitaḥ
Sūta berkata: Melebihi segala pertanyaan spekulatif Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira, Arjuna—sahabat masyhur Śrī Kṛṣṇa—menjadi sangat lemah kerana pedihnya perpisahan daripada Kṛṣṇa, hingga rupanya menimbulkan pelbagai sangkaan dan keraguan.
Being too much aggrieved, Arjuna practically became choked up, and therefore it was not possible for him to reply properly to the various speculative inquiries of Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira.
This verse shows that separation from Kṛṣṇa deeply afflicts even great devotees like King Yudhiṣṭhira, producing intense anxiety and many doubts—highlighting viraha as a powerful, transformative devotional experience.
Because Kṛṣṇa was no longer present with them; the king, tormented by Kṛṣṇa’s absence, began imagining many possibilities and appeared disturbed, prompting concern among those around him.
When doubts arise, recognize the heart’s need for deeper connection with Kṛṣṇa; respond by increasing sincere hearing, chanting, and remembrance rather than feeding speculation.
