FAQs

This verse imparts genealogical knowledge (vaṁśa–anukrama), enumerating notable descendants and relations from the Mahābhārata tradition.

By cataloging epic lineages (Itihāsa-linked vaṁśāvalī), it functions as a reference index—one of the Agni Purana’s hallmark encyclopedic features alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and arts.

Remembering and reciting revered lineages is traditionally treated as smṛti-based dharma support—strengthening sacred memory, cultural continuity, and merit through respectful remembrance of dhārmic heroes.
