It prescribes the method of Dikpāla/Lokapāla worship: install or visualize each guardian on a kalaśa in the correct direction, and worship them in sequence with their identifying vāhana (mount) and āyudha (weapon/insignia).
Beyond myth, it functions as a practical ritual manual—detailing altar-direction mapping, deity sequencing, and iconographic identifiers—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of applied liturgy and temple/household worship procedure.
Correctly honoring the directional guardians is traditionally held to protect the rite, remove directional obstacles (dik-doṣa), and secure auspiciousness and ritual completeness (kriyā-siddhi) for the worshipper.
