Related Themes: Agni Purana śrāddha and pitṛ-kalpa procedures earlier in the same khanda (referenced by ‘pūrvavat’)
It gives procedural guidance for performing piṇḍikā (piṇḍa) offerings at Brahmaśilā and similar sacred loci, emphasizing correct method (yathāvidhi) and continuity with earlier stated steps (pūrvavat), along with required observances (saṃvara).
By documenting a specific, location-linked śrāddha application (Brahmaśilā-ādi) and the associated vrata-style disciplines (Gaurī-ādi saṃvara), it preserves practical ritual manuals alongside the Purana’s wider coverage of dharma, worship, and sacred geography.
Performing the offering with prescribed restraints and exact procedure is presented as necessary for ritual purity and efficacy—supporting ancestral satisfaction (pitṛ-tṛpti) and the performer’s merit (puṇya) through disciplined, rule-bound observance.
