Vidyā-viśodhana-vidhāna
Procedure for Purifying Mantra-Vidyā

Concept: Mantra is treated as a living vidyā requiring saṃskāra (purificatory conditioning); svabīja indicates practitioner-specific linkage (adhikāra/saṃbandha) to the mantra’s power.
Application: Before major japa/nyāsa/dīkṣā operations, perform prescribed mantra-śodhana; keep bīja usage consistent with one’s initiation lineage.

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A tantric practitioner seated in āsana performs mantra-purification: rhythmic tāḍana gestures (light striking/energizing) over a yantra or mantra-written leaf, while visualizing the bīja as a glowing syllable merging into the vidyā.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style, sādhaka with rudrākṣa, yantra on low pedestal, stylized sound-waves from bīja syllable, tāḍana mudrā shown clearly, deep ochres and greens","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting, gold-highlighted bīja syllable hovering above manuscript/yantra, ornate altar, strong frontal composition, rich jewel tones","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, didactic clarity: close-up of hands performing tāḍana over mantra text, bīja syllable depicted as luminous calligraphy, minimal background, soft gradients","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, scholar-sādhaka in a study with manuscripts, subtle mystical glow around the bīja, fine brushwork on calligraphy and ritual tools"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: pūrvoktavidhinā treated as tatpuruṣa compound; svavījam = sva + vījam; syāditi = syāt + iti.
Related Themes: Agni Purana 86 (earlier-stated method: pūrvokta-vidhi for śodhana); Agni Purana 87 (śānti-śodhana and vidyā integration)
It teaches a vidyā-śodhana (mantra-purification) step: perform ritual actions like tāḍana (striking/tapping) as previously prescribed, with the key requirement that the practice is joined to the vidyā’s own bīja (seed-syllable).
By recording operational details of mantra-sādhana—how to cleanse and refine a vidyā using specific ritual gestures and bīja-syllables—the chapter exemplifies the Agni Purana’s practical, manual-like coverage of tantric and ritual technologies alongside other sciences.
The instruction frames purification as prerequisite to effective and safe mantra-use: aligning the practice with the vidyā’s bīja is presented as the special condition that completes the cleansing, supporting spiritual efficacy and reducing ritual fault (doṣa).
