Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Mantra","secondary_vidya":"Puja-vidhi","practical_application":"Pavitrīkaraṇa: invoke the pavitra (purificatory thread/rite), hold it in añjali, and apply the Oṃ-mantra for prāyaścitta-like completion of procedural gaps (vidhi-chidra-pūraṇa).","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Pavitra-invocation and ‘Samasta-vidhi-chidra-pūraṇa’ Oṃ application","lookup_keywords":["pavitra","pavitrīkaraṇa","añjali","vidhi-chidra","Oṃ"],"quick_summary":"Invoke the pavitra and hold it in joined palms; use Oṃ as a completion-mantra to repair omissions and defects in ritual performance."}

Concept: Ritual integrity is safeguarded by intentional correction—acknowledging human fallibility and sealing the rite through mantra.

Application: When unsure of exact procedural completeness, perform pavitrīkaraṇa with focused añjali and Oṃ to ‘close’ the rite without anxiety.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Mantra-prayoga and Pavitrikarana rites)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A devotee stands before the altar at dawn or early ritual time, holding a pavitra thread/grass ring in the hollow of joined palms (añjali), eyes lowered, reciting Oṃ to complete and purify the rite.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural: priest/devotee with añjali holding pavitra, stylized altar with lamps, minimal background, emphasis on hand gesture and sacred thread/grass ring, calm palette.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore: devotee in añjali holding pavitra, gold accents on altar lamps and arch, Oṃ symbol subtly in the haloed space, rich reds and greens.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore: clear depiction of pavitra object in palms, neat ritual layout, soft shading, instructional clarity of hand position (añjali-madhya).","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature: close-up of hands holding pavitra, fine textile patterns, small shrine with incense and lamp, calligraphic Oṃ motif in margin."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"contemplative","suggested_raga":"Yaman","pace":"slow","voice_tone":"instructional"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: विधायाञ्जलिमध्यगं = विधाय अञ्जलि-मध्य-गम्; समस्तविधिच्छिद्रपूरणे = समस्त-विधि-छिद्र-पूरणे.

FAQs

It teaches the mantra-prayoga of invoking the pavitra and holding it in añjali while applying ‘Oṃ’ as a remedial formula to complete and rectify omissions (chidra) in ritual procedure (vidhi).

Beyond mythic narration, it preserves practical liturgical technology—how to handle ritual faults, employ pavitrīkaraṇa, and use concise mantric remedies—showing the text’s coverage of applied temple/household worship procedure.

It functions as prāyaścitta-by-mantra: the intent is purification and completion of worship so that merit is preserved and the rite becomes fault-free (chidra-pūrṇa), supporting spiritual efficacy and reducing karmic error from procedural lapses.
