द्वितीयं वैश्यशूद्रयोरेति क , ख , ङ , ञ च शुष्काणि दग्धमंसानि इति ङ प्राजापत्याद्द्विजः शुचिरिति ख अग्निहोत्रपरीद्धाग्निर्ब्राह्मणः कामचारतः चान्द्रायणं चरेन्मासं वीरवध्वासनं हितं

dvitīyaṃ vaiśyaśūdrayoreti ka , kha , ṅa , ña ca śuṣkāṇi dagdhamaṃsāni iti ṅa prājāpatyāddvijaḥ śuciriti kha agnihotraparīddhāgnirbrāhmaṇaḥ kāmacārataḥ cāndrāyaṇaṃ carenmāsaṃ vīravadhvāsanaṃ hitaṃ

Bagi golongan Vaiśya dan Śūdra, ditetapkan darjat penebusan (prāyaścitta) yang kedua, yakni darjat yang lebih rendah—demikian menurut bacaan varian (ka, kha, ṅa, ña). Dalam bacaan ṅa disebut: “(hendaklah mengambil) daging yang dikeringkan atau dipanggang dengan api.” Dalam bacaan kha: “Dengan melaksanakan tapa Prājāpatya, seorang dvija (dua-kali-lahir) menjadi suci.” Seorang Brāhmaṇa yang, kerana kelakuan bernafsu dan tidak terkawal, telah mengekalkan api suci untuk Agnihotra tetap menyala, hendaklah menjalani nazar Cāndrāyaṇa selama sebulan; ini dinyatakan bermanfaat sebagai penebusan (dalam lafaz warisan juga disebut ‘vīra-vadhv-āsana’).
