This verse imparts cosmographical knowledge (bhuvana-kosha): a classification of regions by terrain/soil (black, yellow, red, white-gravel, mountainous, golden) and notes the beings (Daityas, etc.) who inhabit such pleasant lands.
By cataloging types of lands and their inhabitants, it functions like a geographic-ethnographic entry within the Purana’s wide-ranging compendium, alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and arts—showing the text’s survey of the cosmos as well as practical disciplines.
The verse primarily conveys descriptive cosmology rather than a direct rite; its spiritual value lies in cultivating a Purāṇic worldview of the many realms and beings within creation, supporting dharmic reflection on the vast order (loka-vyavasthā) governed by cosmic law.
