FAQs

It teaches a Surya-puja sequence using specific bīja-syllables to (1) visualize Sarvatomukhī, (2) establish the pīṭha (ritual seat), (3) perform preliminary worship, then (4) invoke Ravi and offer pādya and related upacāras, accompanied by hṛt-ṣaḍaṅga (six-limbed nyāsa).

It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s practical ritual manual aspect by preserving concise, technical pūjā-steps—bīja-mantras, pīṭha स्थापना, āvāhana, and nyāsa—alongside its broader coverage of dharma, polity, arts, and sciences.

By correctly invoking and honoring Ravi with prescribed upacāras and nyāsa, the rite is framed as purificatory and merit-producing, aligning the worshipper’s body-mind (through ṣaḍaṅga/nyāsa) with the solar deity’s presence for auspiciousness and spiritual uplift.
