Related Themes: Agni Purana 296 (mantra-chikitsa subsection); Agni Purana 295 (raksha-mantra framing)
It gives a visha-nivarana (anti-poison) mantra-prayoga: verbal commands and bīja-syllables used to draw out, neutralize, and ritually “contain” poison—especially bite-venom—and also to subdue serpents through japa-siddhi.
Alongside theology and dharma, the Agni Purana preserves applied knowledge—here, protective ritual-medicine (mantra-chikitsa) for toxins and snakebite—showing how Purāṇic literature functions as a compendium of practical arts and healing methods.
It frames healing as a dharmic protective act: mastering the mantra through disciplined japa is presented as a means to safeguard life, restrain harmful forces, and restore purity by neutralizing the “darkness” of poison.
