Ayurvedic therapeutics: it gives a specific lepa (topical paste) recipe using named materia medica for treating bhagandara (fistula).
It demonstrates the Purana’s medical compendium aspect by preserving a precise clinical formulation—listing drugs and the dosage-form (lepa)—within a broader text that also covers ritual, polity, arts, and other sciences.
In the Agni Purana’s worldview, preserving health through dharmic, text-sanctioned remedies supports the pursuit of dharma and disciplined living; healing severe ailments like fistula is treated as enabling righteous conduct rather than as a standalone ritual merit.
