FAQs

No ritual or technical vidyā is taught here; the verse preserves an itihāsa-style dynastic event—Bhīṣma’s acquisition of Ambikā and Ambālikā for the Kuru line.

Alongside rituals, polity, medicine, and poetics, the Agni Purana also compiles genealogies and famous epic episodes; this verse exemplifies its historical-legendary (itihāsa) register used to contextualize kings, succession, and lineage.

The verse functions primarily as lineage narration rather than a prescriptive injunction; its karmic value lies in śravaṇa/smaraṇa of purāṇic-itihāsa traditions that uphold dharma through remembrance of exemplary figures and dynastic continuity.
