Lord Agni (narrating the Purana to Vasiṣṭha, within a stuti-style passage)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Avatara-Katha","secondary_vidya":"Stotra","practical_application":"Vāmana/Trivikrama remembrance in worship for humility, dharma-restoration, and invoking expansive divine protection (three strides).","sutra_style":false}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Description","entry_title":"Vāmana–Trivikrama Stuti: Kaśyapa’s Dwarf Adorned with Trayī, Striding the Earth","lookup_keywords":["Vamana","Trivikrama","Kashyapa","Rig Yajus Sama","three strides"],"quick_summary":"A praise-verse to Vāmana, the dwarf son of Kaśyapa, ornamented by the three Vedas, who strides across the earth—teaching divine sovereignty expressed through humble form."}

Alamkara Type: Virodha-bhāsa (apparent contrast: extremely short yet spanning the earth)

Concept: Divine order reasserted through measured action: the Lord’s ‘small’ form accomplishes cosmic restoration; Veda as ornament signifies authority of śruti in dharma.

Application: Cultivate humility and integrity; in ritual, meditate on ‘measured steps’ as disciplined conduct and rightful boundaries.

FAQs

It conveys stuti-vidhi (devotional praise) with Vedic framing—identifying Vishnu’s Vāmana form as ‘adorned by the three Vedas,’ a cue for Veda-linked recitation and remembrance in worship.

It integrates avatāra-narrative (Vāmana/Trivikrama) with Vedic taxonomy (Ṛg–Yajur–Sāma), showing how the Agni Purana cross-references mythology, theology, and Vedic authority in a single compact verse.

Repeated salutations to the Vāmana/Trivikrama form cultivate bhakti and humility; remembering the divine ‘three strides’ symbolizes surrender of one’s world (earth) to God, traditionally held to purify intention and accrue religious merit.
