Related Themes: Agni Purana 21 (Śaiva pūjā subsections; attendant worship)
It teaches the pūjā-krama (ritual sequence) for Śiva-worship: begin with Nandin, then worship Mahākāla, followed by Gaṅgā, Yamunā, and Śiva’s Gaṇas/attendants as subsidiary deities.
By prescribing a precise, step-by-step liturgical order (pūjā-vidhi) and naming specific associated deities, it exemplifies how the Agni Purana catalogs practical ritual manuals alongside its many other disciplines.
Honoring Śiva’s attendants and allied sacred powers before (and alongside) the main deity is presented as a completeness-principle in worship, supporting ritual correctness (vidhi) and the intended religious merit (puṇya) of the pūjā.
