एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु उत्पातास्तत्र दारुणाः । अपसव्यं मृगाश्चक्रुः पशवः पक्षिणश्च ये । तान्दृष्ट्वा चिन्तयामास मुद्गलो विस्मयान्वितः
etasminneva kāle tu utpātāstatra dāruṇāḥ | apasavyaṃ mṛgāścakruḥ paśavaḥ pakṣiṇaśca ye | tāndṛṣṭvā cintayāmāsa mudgalo vismayānvitaḥ
त्याच वेळी तेथे भयंकर उत्पात झाले. मृग, पशू व पक्षी अपसव्य (डावीकडे) फिरू लागले. ती अशुभ चिन्हे पाहून मुद्गल विस्मयाने भरून मनात विचार करू लागला।
