prāptastu medhyatāṃ śakra vimukto brahmahatyayā | tasmādāgaccha gacchāmaḥ sahitāstridaśālayam
Devas (headed by Brahmā and Viṣṇu)
Tirtha: Hāṭakeśvara tīrtha / Nāgabila (contextual)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śakra (Indra)
Scene: A purified Śakra (Indra), freed from brahmahatyā, is invited to ascend with the speaker toward the Trāyastriṃśa abode; the tīrtha’s sanctity is implied in the background with Gaṅgā imagery and a nearby liṅga shrine.
A powerful tīrtha and Śiva-worship can function as expiation (prayāścitta), restoring purity and divine standing.
The Hāṭakeśvara–Nāgabila tīrtha, presented as capable of removing even brahmahatyā.
Implicitly, worship at the site is treated as expiatory; the verse highlights the achieved purity and release from brahmahatyā.
