सूत उवाच । अथान्यदपि तत्रास्ति मुखारं तीर्थमुत्तमम् । यत्र ते मुनयः श्रेष्ठा विप्राश्चौरेण संगताः । यत्र सिद्धिं समापन्नः स चौरस्तत्प्रभावतः । वाल्मीकिरिति विख्यातो रामायणनिबंधकृत्

सूत म्हणाले—तेथे आणखी एक परम उत्तम तीर्थ आहे, ‘मुखार तीर्थ’ नावाचे; जिथे श्रेष्ठ मुनी व ब्राह्मण चोरास भेटले. त्या तीर्थाच्या प्रभावाने तो चोर सिद्धीला प्राप्त होऊन ‘वाल्मीकि’ म्हणून प्रसिद्ध झाला आणि रामायणाचा रचयिता झाला.
