skaṃdopi nitarāṃ tuṣṭaḥśroturānaṃdadarśanāt | dhanyosyagastya dhanyosi śrotuṃ jānāsi tattvataḥ
Skanda
Tirtha: Avimukta-Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Listener: Agastya (addressed as śrotṛ)
Scene: Skanda, pleased, looks upon Agastya’s delighted face and blesses him, declaring him blessed for knowing how to listen in truth; a calm exchange of grace between teacher and sage.
Right listening (śravaṇa) with joy and sincerity is itself a spiritual qualification that pleases the divine and leads to true understanding.
The setting remains Kāśī Māhātmya; the verse highlights the merit of hearing sacred teaching rather than a particular tīrtha.
Śravaṇa—attentive listening to sacred discourse—is implicitly upheld as a key devotional discipline.
