स्कंद उवाच । न कौलीन्यं न सद्वृत्तं महत्त्वाय प्रकल्पते । एकमेव पदं श्रेयः पदभ्रंशो हि लाघवम्
skaṃda uvāca | na kaulīnyaṃ na sadvṛttaṃ mahattvāya prakalpate | ekameva padaṃ śreyaḥ padabhraṃśo hi lāghavam
स्कंद म्हणाले—फक्त कुलीनता किंवा फक्त सद्वर्तन यानेच महत्त्व सिद्ध होत नाही। कल्याणमार्गावरचे एक दृढ पाऊलच श्रेयस्कर; आणि पदच्युत होणे हेच लाघव आहे।
