ब्राह्मण उवाच । शिखण्डी नाम राजास्ति कन्यकुब्जे प्रतापवान् । अपुत्रोऽसौ महीपालः कन्या जाता मनोरथैः
brāhmaṇa uvāca | śikhaṇḍī nāma rājāsti kanyakubje pratāpavān | aputro'sau mahīpālaḥ kanyā jātā manorathaiḥ
ब्राह्मण म्हणाले—कन्यकुब्जात शिखण्डी नावाचा प्रतापवान राजा आहे. तो महीपाल अपुत्र होता; तरीही त्याच्या मनोऱथाप्रमाणे एक कन्या जन्मली.
