tasya parvatarājasya yaḥ karoti pradakṣiṇam | pradakṣiṇīkṛtā tena pṛthivī nātra saṃśayaḥ
जो त्या पर्वतराजाची प्रदक्षिणा करतो, त्याने जणू संपूर्ण पृथ्वीचीच प्रदक्षिणा केली असे होते—यात संशय नाही.
Śiva (Śaṅkara)
Tirtha: Amarkaṇṭaka-parikramā (of the mountain-kshetra)
Type: peak
Listener: nṛpa (king)
Scene: Pilgrims in a continuous clockwise procession along a forested mountain path; shrines and liṅgas appear at intervals; the earth-goddess motif subtly overlays the landscape, suggesting the whole world being circumambulated.
Circumambulating a supremely sacred mountain is treated as a symbolic circumambulation of the entire world.
The ‘king of mountains’ in this chapter’s context—Amarkaṇṭaka.
Pradakṣiṇā (ritual circumambulation) of the sacred mountain.
