श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । समातृभिर्भूतगणश्च घोरैर्वृतः समन्तात्स ननर्त शूली । गजेन्द्रचर्मावरणे वसानः संहर्तुकामश्च जगत्समस्तम्

श्री मार्कंडेय म्हणाले—मातृगणांसह भयंकर भूतगणांनी सर्व बाजूंनी वेढलेला त्रिशूलधारी प्रभू नृत्य करू लागला। गजेन्द्रचर्म धारण करून तो समस्त जगत् संहारण्यास उद्यत दिसला।
