चतुर्दश पुरा कल्पा न मृता येषु नर्मदा । तानहं सम्प्रवक्ष्यामि देवी प्राह यथा मम
caturdaśa purā kalpā na mṛtā yeṣu narmadā | tānahaṃ sampravakṣyāmi devī prāha yathā mama
पूर्वी असे चौदा कल्प होते की ज्यांत नर्मदा ‘मेली’ नाही—म्हणजे लुप्त झाली नाही. देवीने मला जसे सांगितले तसे मी आता सांगतो।
