अतीते तु पुरा कल्पे यथेयं वर्ततेऽनघ । अस्यान्त्यस्य च कल्पस्य व्यवस्थां कथय प्रभो । एवमुक्तः सभामध्ये मार्कण्डो वाक्यमब्रवीत्
atīte tu purā kalpe yatheyaṃ vartate'nagha | asyāntyasya ca kalpasya vyavasthāṃ kathaya prabho | evamuktaḥ sabhāmadhye mārkaṇḍo vākyamabravīt
हे निष्पाप! पूर्वीच्या अतीत कल्पात जसे हे होते आणि जसे आता आहे, तसेच या अंतिम कल्पाचीही व्यवस्था व नियम सांगावे, प्रभो। असे म्हटल्यावर सभेमध्ये मार्कण्डेयांनी हे वचन उच्चारले।
