Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Smaraṇa-bhakti (remembrance) of Śiva is presented as sufficient for kleśa-kṣaya and either mokṣa or svarga—highlighting grace (anugraha) as the decisive factor beyond external means.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Umā
Role: liberating
It declares Shiva-smaraṇa (remembrance of Shiva) as intrinsically purifying: it burns away kleśas (bondage-producing afflictions) and leads the soul toward Shiva’s grace—culminating in moksha, or at minimum higher meritorious states like svarga.
Remembrance naturally includes holding Shiva’s auspicious form and signs (Saguna)—often centered on the Shiva Linga as the accessible focus of devotion—through which the mind becomes steady and receptive to Pati (Shiva) who frees the paśu (bound soul) from pāśa (bondage).
Practice daily Shiva-smaraṇa through japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), mental recollection of Shiva’s names (Shambhu, Umapati), and simple worship such as Linga-dhyāna; these are presented as sufficient to reduce suffering and orient one toward liberation.
